A mind wanders in the depths of mediocrity

Plugged by the despairs of normalness

Why I not be Dante

Why I not be Alexander

 

Maybe once a man walked

When I smiled & laughed

Now a shell turns

Grating on the hollowed emotions

 

Why I not see the winter

That stings the heart & the cheek

Why I not see the summer

That singes the heart & the brow

 

Maybe the smile will return

But will it ever touch the eyes

Maybe the birds will dance

But will the fires be lit

 

Till then all I will do

Chin up soldier on

Walk a million miles

Turn and give a rueful smile
